Day at Gardner Village

This Friday, we decided to take a trip to Gardner Village with mom, Heidi, me, Jeniel, and her kids.  (Actually, I got a message from Jeniel on Thursday saying that she was going down and then I called up my mother and wondered why I hadn't got an invitation?  She graciously let me come. Thanks mom!)  It was a lot of fun and Gardner Village is one of my favorite places to go especially in the fall!  The girls all dressed up like witches and looked so cute!  The best witches there!
We had lunch at Archibald's (which is always good!  Mom really enjoyed the fried green tomatoes!) and spent the afternoon looking at all of the shops.  I really could spend so much money there, but I did take my camera and took pictures of some cute ideas to make on my own.

Look, I found my new crush!  Actually I was showing Makenzie how to take a funny picture.  I love Heidi's face in the background!
Colton is so much fun!  He is just a hoot!  It is so cute to listen to him sing his ABC's.  Halfway through he will start singing twinkle little star!

Part of the decorations at the villages are these fun witches.  They are all over and in all types of positions.  Makenzie had a paper to find all of them so that was fun to look for them with her.

What a fun day!  Happy Halloween!

Birthday and a Baby Shower!

What a wonderful weekend!  We drove home to spend time with family, watch conference, celebrate my 24th birthday, and have a baby shower!

Friday night we celebrated my birthday with gifts, a cake, lots of fun.  Casey's kids were over and they are always so much fun.  Of course they had to help with unwrapping the presents and even Hallie helped blowing out my candles.

Saturday was by Baby Shower!  My wonderful mother and sister Heidi planned and put together the best baby shower ever!  The decorations were so cute!  They used the colors from his baby room, blue, green, and orange and of course Trucks everywhere! Even on the darling cupcakes!

It was so great to have loving family and friends there for me and little Ronnie!
Everyone there designed and made a onesie with fabric, buttons, and paint.  They all turned out so cute!  There were some fun games including guessing the size of my belly with yarn, remembering all of the baby stuff in the basket, and trying to remember nursery rhymes.  As always there was really delicious food!
I felt so spoiled with all of the wonderful gifts everyone gave me.  Cute outfits, diapers, toys, socks, essential needs, and blankets!  Beautiful, beautiful blankets! This baby is going to be the best dressed, most loved, and definitely warm little guy!
I want to thank all of the wonderful family and friends that came and shared such a great day with me and also a HUGE thanks to my mother and sister for putting on my baby shower.  I love you all!

Grandpa Milen's 80th Birthday

On September 25th, Garrettt's Grandpa Milen turned 80 years old.  We were so fortunate to drive home for the weekend and attend his birthday party.  Garrett's mom and all of his aunts put on a great party at the church.  The decorations were beautiful, the lunch was delicious, and the day was wonderful.  Each Grandchild shared a memory they had of their grandpa and we watched a great movie of pictures of his life. Of course we had cake and ice cream and his cowboy boot cake was absolutely perfect!  It was so wonderful to spend the day with family.  Grandpa Milen is a wonderful guy.  He always hugs you so tight like he is never letting go and always makes you feel so special.  We love you Grandpa Milen!

The story of the day!

I just love Kindergarten!  This happened yesterday in class and I just have to share it!

(The whole class is reading words together on the board)

Whole class orally:  " /l/, /o/, /g/  log     /l/, /e/, /d/  led    /l/, /a/, /d/  lad"

Me:  "Ok class.  This word right here is the word lad.  I want to use lad in a sentence, but first I need to understand its meaning.  What does the word lad mean?"

(of course I was expecting that no one would know)

(just one or two children raise their hand and I call on McKay)

Me:  "McKay, what does the word lad mean?"

McKay: "It is the Scottish word for a boy."

(my reaction:  AMAZED!)

Me:  "Wow McKay!  That is exactly what a lad is!"

(we spent the rest of the lesson talking about Scotland, where it is, and how other cultures use different words than we do for different words)

Lesson of the day:  You never realize how much these little minds are ready to soak up.  Any child is ready to learn anything at anytime.  Use every moment, question, and curious thought as a time to teach a child.  Nothing is too much for them to learn!

What a great job I have!

Brigham City Temple

This Saturday, Garrett and I woke up and decided to go the Brigham City Temple open house.  It was also the last day of Peach Days so Brigham City was full of people, but it was great to see this new beautiful temple.  It was just gorgeous inside!  It is a smaller temple and there were a lot of stairs, but it was really pretty.  I loved the windows!  The Church just does everything so well!  Then after, Garrett took me to eat at this little burger place out in Corrine that he passes a lot for his job.  It was really good!  We spent the afternoon driving around the valley looking at all the places Garrett treats for work and looking at houses.  What a fun day!

Hogle Zoo!

For Dad's Wheeler Party this year, they held it at Hogle Zoo.  I was so excited because I hadn't been to a zoo since our Honeymoon!  Ira's family, Casey's family, Garrett and I, Mom, Dad, and Heidi all met at the zoo and had a great time!  They had dinner for us, yummy treats, and even a bird show just for the Wheeler Party.  It was a lot of fun to look at the animals and spend time with the kiddos.  What a great way to end the summer!

Ronnie's Room

I'm so excited!  Ronnie's room is complete!  Except for filling the shelves and drawers with the cutest baby things, his room looks perfect!  Just like I imagined!  For the past couple of days, my mom came up to stay with us and helped me complete his room.  And it looks amazing!
Garret's parents gave us this beautiful new crib and changing table.  Mom helped me sew this cute car dust ruffle and orange stripped bumpers.  I love the way the colors look against the dark wood on the crib. He'll be sleeping in style!
This was the old yellow bookshelf from Whitney's room.  Garrett helped me paint it this pretty blue color and I found some baskets to fill with toys and books for Ronnie!

I've already got the picture frames ready when our little guy gets here!

I think all of the colors are so much fun!

Using some extra fabric, I covered these wooden letters to put over Ronnie's crib.  This is probably my favorite part of his room!  So cute!

Mom's expert sewing created these beautiful curtains.
I've absolutely loved these past couple days with my mom!  She is the best mom in the world!  Not only did she give me a new sewing machine, she spent hours helping me sew the cutest curtains & bumpers & ruffle for Ronnie's crib and took me on a baby shopping spree where we got some of the most adorable little boy clothes.  It was fun to hang out with my mom! (I love you mom!) And now Ronnie's room is ready for when he gets here, which is coming faster than ever.  Now, it's time to get ready for school! Where did the summer go?
