Johnson Doo-Dah Olympics!

For the Johnson Doo-Dah, we held the Olympics at the ranch!  Each family choose (or created) a country, made a flag and t-shirts, and participated in some really fun events.  Our country was called Uitropia (a combination of Ukraine, Italy, Russia, and Ethiopia). We started with running in the torch and lighting a huge bon fire.

There were many events for all of us to participate in including a target shoot, ladder ball, bean bag toss, volleyball tournament, 5k run, kid's race, washer toss, and marble games.

We also had a zip line which was so much fun! The kids loved it and even Grandpa J went on it!

Of course we ate tons of great food, spent hours talking and relaxing, played card games, went on 4-wheeler rides, chased little kids everywhere, watched a family movie out on the porch, hit glow in the dark golf balls and got into a glow stick fight, and finished our Olympics with a Medal Ceremony.  Everyone received a medal and we all had a great time!

My Latest Project

We finally found the perfect dresser for our little guy's room. It was a lot fun to put it together with Garrett.  Of course I had to paint it and I think it turned out really cute.  I painted some shelves and picture frames to hang on the wall too.  They will look so perfect with my curtains!

Our Little Guy!

Just for fun, here is a picture of our little guy. Isn't he cute!

Mickelsen Campout at Duck Creek

For our Mickelsen Family campout this year, we went to Duck Creek.  We rented a beautiful cabin up Cedar Canyon and had a lot of fun!  It is always great to get together, play games, talk, relax, and just be together as a family.  We did miss my brother Cody and his family, but our thoughts were with you!  I made a Mickelsen Family Bingo game and my mom had some great prizes!
Whitney took us on a great hike to a beautiful waterfall!

Funny thing--it was pretty hot on our way to the waterfall, but right as we were heading back dark clouds started to form.  What started as a light sprinkle turn into a little down pour.  We all walked quickly back to the trucks and go soaked, but it was fun!  I think it only rained on the trail because when we got to the trucks, it stopped!

Whitney also knew about a fun cave that is popular for hikers.  It is called Mammoth Cave.  It is a big hole in the ground with tunnels all underground that you can hike through.  These tunnels were old lava tubes and were pretty cool!  All the little kids came and they loved it!  Mom gave everyone a headlight for a prize during our bingo game so we were all prepared.  It was completely dark and some places were pretty low (just right for Colton). Toward the end, there was a part where you had to crawl through on your stomach and of course I couldn't fit so a few of us turned back.  What a fun adventure!

Fishing was definitely a must!

The kids had a lot of fun!  This is the fort they built and spent most of their time running around and playing!
Thanks Mom and Dad for a great trip!

Chichen Itza Party

To celebrate my parents trip to Mexico last year, my mom threw a Chichen Itza party this weekend.  The kids all loved swimming in the pool and getting everyone else wet!  We had "Mayan Tacos" (navajo tacos), and a lot of great food!

Of course Grandpa brought out the ice cream and popcicles!
