Update on Heather's Life

Ok, so it has been a little while since I last posted anything on my blog and I'm getting my fair share of teasing from my family that it is no longer Homecoming so I thought I would take a break from life and give everyone an update. First of all I am finishing my student teaching back at my Alma Mater Salina Elementary. I finished a month and a half of Kindergarten and now I am teaching in a 5th grade class and I totally love it! I was absolutely and most definitely meant to be a teacher! I love being there and I love teaching! It feels so good to be getting closer to finally doing what I really want to do and what I have always wanted to do-TEACH! I have had many stressful nights full tears and frustration due to the wonderful Utah State University, but I think things are working out and I'm ready to graduate.
Also another big and Wonderful thing that has happened is........I'M GETTING MARRIED! YAY!
So here is the Story:
It was early Monday Morning February 15th, 2010. I got all of my warm clothes together because Garrett said that he wanted to take me snowmobiling before all the snow melts (little did he know we had a lot more coming) So I got all my stuff and he came to get me around 10:00. After we got everything ready in Redmond, we headed off toward Willow Creek just East of Redmond. His dad drove us part way up the canyon and dropped us off. So Garrett and I started heading up the canyon on his snowmobile.

(Ok, real fast-Garrett and I have actually been for rides up this canyon several times throughout our history together. Even back in High School we drove up here several times on his four wheeler and even carved our names in a tree (I know mussy stuff!) but it was that particular area that was our destination for this trip). We continued up the canyon I noticed that the snow was getting REALLY deep. Snowmobiling go really well in snow, but they can get stuck and when they do it is a beast to get them out. Well, sure enough, we were heading across this little meadow and our back end completely sunk into the snow. It was stuck and we weren't going anywhere. So let's just say that Garrett and I spent the next hour and a half praying and digging that snowmobile out. I would say that the snow was about four feet and we had to dig down to the ground in a radius about 10 away from the snowmobile. Finally after one great push from myself and one last prayer- we were able to get it out. Also another miracle-we did not have cell service the whole time we were riding around (Garrett's mom made us check every so often if we had service) and in that one spot where we got stuck-we were able to call Garrett's Dad and let him know so I know that it was also his families prayers that helped us. So anyway after we got out of the snow, I was sitting on the snowmobile trying to get the snow out of my helmet and then Garrett started to act a little funny. I could tell he was trying to smooth his way into something and then he said "I want to give you your Valentines present."
Then he got down on his knee and pulled out this Gorgeous box!

He opened it and inside was this Beautiful ring.

Then he asked, "Heather, Will you Marry Me?" Of course I was shocked that it took me a couple seconds to respond and well obviously I said "Yes!"
So there you have it the wonderful story. It is definitely one I will never forget!

So now my life is devoted to student teaching and making wedding plans. Oh also I help mom and dad with the basement when I can which is coming along really well.

I do have my wedding dress. Mom and I found it at Lilla Lee's in Gunnison and it is really my perfect dress!

So family there is an update and I promise I will do better to keep up on my blog! Love to all!
